Coverups and Repairs
When asked about what my favorite tattoos have been to do, often times the ones that come to mind have been covers or repairs. I very much enjoy fixing something that a person has been unhappy with, often for many years. I’ve heard countless stories of people being so embarrassed or ashamed of a tattoo to the point that it had a detrimental effect on their well being.
A tattoo may need to be covered or repaired for a variety of reasons. The original tattoo may have been performed by an inexperienced tattooer who made mistakes. The original tattoo may not have been cared for properly and didn’t age well. Or perhaps the particular design choices no longer represent who you are or reflect a time in your life you no longer want to be reminded of. Either way, tattoos can be covered over or fixed. This is a specialty skill that not all tattooers are capable of or have any desire to perform. So when choosing an artist to perform this task, be sure you go to someone who understands how to do them and enjoys doing them.
